2014 Reflections | Hello 2015

Welcome 2015!

 {Reflections}
You know when life is going really great and you tell yourself "when is this going to end? I can't stay this lucky forever". That time came this year. I fully learned the harsh reality that although life can be so amazing, inevitably it can really crush you, with the sudden loss of my dad back in March. My Mom and I are "ok" because really, there's no other option. Right? I've learned this year that I'm stronger than I ever imagined but only because I have to be. I think know I get that from my mom. This year we've had to rebuild a new normal and have all the firsts without my dad, so in that aspect I'm glad to be done with 2014.

I don't want to discount the parts of 2014 that were really pretty great though. Our babies grew so much. We lived a lot of life with them. Carson walked, talked, and hit so many milestones this year. Finley turned from a toddler to such a big girl. Joe was offered and accepted his awesome new job and we've started the process of looking for a new house.

I don't really make resolutions but last year I did make it a goal to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight . I worked really hard the first part of the year and not only got to where I wanted to be but beyond. I'm still really proud of all the work I put in

{Wishes for 2015}
The past six years have been full of life changing events for us. In 2009 we were married. In 2010 we built the house, found out I was pregnant with Finley and she was born in 2011. In 2012 I got pregnant with Carson and in 2013 he was born. I hope for an uneventful 2015, aside from hopefully selling and buying a new home. I want to enjoy our babies and family time. Maybe throw in a vacation or two. I would also like for us to find a home church and actually start attending. I went to church back in the day but haven't been a member at any here in Texas. Hopefully at the end of 2015 our family will have a church to call our own because I really do want that for us and especially the kids. I also want to get better with my new DSLR camera. I'm slowly working up to full manual mode and hope to make some fair progress this year.

Speaking of the kids,  I need to go read to Finley and put her to bed. I'll leave you with a couple pictures from NYE last night. My mother in law called yesterday to let me know she was coming over to watch the kids because Joe had made plans for me! I went out to dinner with the other restaurant wives so that we could be with our guys. It was a good time.

Wishing all of you a happy and healthy 2015!

  6. April, thank you for sharing this link and your resolutions for the new year. I'm glad to have found your blog, as well as another Texas blogger. What part of Texas do you live? If you're not familiar with Texas Women Bloggers, you should be. It's a wonderful network community of really great women. If you're in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, definitely let me know because I'm currently in the planning stages of organizing a blogger event in the early spring, possibly as early as mid-February. I get super-duper excited about planning events, plus I miss all of my blogger friends and love seeing them in person! You have a beautiful family and I wish you nothing but the best in 2015, I hope you'll post updates on your progress. Cheers and blessings to you and yours in 2015!!!!
