Oh, Hi There

Five days without a blog post. This is a recent record for me. I've been here at least every other day lately. So, whats the deal? Life.

Carson has had a tummy bug. It's been terrible. We're all clear today, so far. Fingers crossed. Having a baby with a tummy bug is a mess, literally. The only positive is the baby snuggles. He threw up in his sleep the other night and it really scared me. I could hear him choking on the monitor and ran to his room. I was so shaken up that the 4 am bath didn't even phase me. We kept him in our room the following two nights.

Both kids are at at a stage where they demand a lot of attention. Finley talks, a lot, and shes a drama queen, but it's kind of amusing. Carson climbs up me like a monkey because he wants to be held pretty often. They also fight, mostly about sharing. Nap and bed time are like a mad dash to check items off my to-do list.

We're still stuck in the Thanksgiving whirlwind. As soon as Black Friday hit, my list grew ten-fold. So.much.to.do. Between that and the tummy bug, I just haven't stopped. Luckily, I finished the kids Christmas shopping online last night. Now, to get everyone else done and the Christmas cards out. Lets not even mention the mound of gifts that need to be wrapped. We did get the tree up and decorations out. Finley helped and it was seriously awesome. She loves Christmas and that makes me really happy. She kept saying that the tree was "sooo beautiful".

Also, my DSLR arrived! I got the Nikon D5100 with a Nikkor 35mm 1.8 lens. The lens is still on the way. I'm going to have to find the time somewhere to learn that. Anyone have any tips? Any sites you used to get started? I'm completely new to shooting manual. I know nothing.

Speaking of Black Friday/Cyber Monday? How did you all make out? I was able to get my new laptop at a deal. The plan was for it to be "our" laptop but Joe decided he wanted to be able to bring one to work, so he got his own. We also scored deals on a new printer, blu-ray player, Chromecast and Roku. I really don't get the overall bashing of Black Friday. People act like it's the worst thing ever. We didn't do the doorbuster events and showed up to shop around 10 am We had no trouble finding parking and even with my bus of a double stroller it wasn't bad at all. I was surprised. I know people say "I'll pass on the crowds, it's not worth it to save a buck". We saved about $300 on our electronic purchases alone. I'd say it was worth it!

On Saturday we made the trek out to the nearest (hour drive) American Girl store. Santa is going to make one little girl very happy. Mommy might be slightly obsessed now. I know American Girl dolls existed when I was a kid but I guess not in my area? I questioned my Mom. She wasn't aware of them either. She wasn't just hiding them from me.

The kids and I rode the Carousel at the mall and met these guys. Aren't they cool?! They were seriously riding on the carousel, y'all. There were five or six of them and every time we would circle around, one would give the kids a high-five. Who knew the mall food court area could be so much fun?

Joe was off from work on Sunday and yesterday, so I was able to run a few errands alone, which was nice. My car was looking a hot mess and needed a trip to the car wash. I was also able to grocery shop solo and brave the post office line, which surprisingly wasn't bad.

With all the Holiday madness I forgot to mention our night out. We headed downtown on Joe's birthday for a little adult time, just the two of us. It was really nice. We went to a bar that is nationally recognized for their amazing drinks. Joe had been before but it was my first visit. So good! Definitely going back.

I'm thinking things are going to get back to somewhat normal starting today. We have a few errands to run and I hear a baby who just woke up from his nap. That's my cue!

I've linked up in the blog hop again this week. Join in!

  1. Where did y'all go for the drinks downtown? I'm so out of the loop *literally* on the hip new places!
